Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, Capital Markets in Africa — BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 303.62 to 303.67 points, a gain of 0.02 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.16 percent at 302.17 points against 301.70 points previously.
The equity market capitalization gained almost XOF 12 billion (about US$20 million) to close at XOF 7,456 billion relative to previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 7,445 billion.
The market activity measured by total volume was recorded at 757,001 traded stocks relative to 703,305 recorded at previous trading sessions. The total traded value was at XOF 1,036.845 million (against XOF 1,091.531 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 30 traded securities via 326 deals. Today’s top stock by volume was Ecobank Transnational Incorporated TOGO with 731,940 traded securities (accounted for about 96.67 percent of the total volume). ONATEL BURKINA FASO recorded the highest total traded value of XOF 122.211 million contributing nearly 11.79 percent of total traded value. The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 99.55 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 22.30.
From the market movers’ angle, out of the 30 traded securities today, 11 stocks experienced price gains, 11 witnessed price drops and 8 stocks price remained unchanged relative to previous closing price. SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE emerged as the top price movers by gaining 7.50 percent to end at XOF 52,675. BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO added 5.93 percent at XOF 119,325 and SGB COTE D’IVOIRE closed at XOF 118,000 after rising by 2.61 percent. TOTAL SENEGAL share price surged by 1.89 percent to close at XOF 27,000 and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE with a closing price of XOF 81,000 after adding 1.25 percent.
On the contrary, UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE plummeted by 3.05 percent to settle at XOF 31,995 as the biggest loser and ONATEL BURKINA FASO fell by 2.26 percent to trade at XOF 13,000. SAPH COTE D’IVOIRE slipped by 2.04 percent to close at XOF 11,505 and SOGB COTE D’IVOIRE somersaulted by 1.61 percent to trade at XOF 27,500. SITAB COTE D’IVOIRE settled at XOF 153,000 after dipping 0.65 percent.
From the sector indices viewpoints, the industry sector index lost 0.27 percent at 164.28 points and public utilities sector index fell by 0.06 percent to end at 841.30 points. However, financial services sector index added 0.82 percent to end at 109.25 points and distribution sector index jumped 0.12 percent to end at 555.10 points. The agriculture sector index went down by 0.90 percent to close at 193.92 points but transportation sector index remained unchanged to settle at 947.05 points and miscellaneous sector index added 7.50 percent to close at 650.31 points.
